Syracuse ASP is among the winners of the Forum Sanità 2025 award in the “Innovate” category with PS Smart, an advanced emergency department management model based on data, artificial intelligence and continuity of care.
The project stands out for its integrated approach combining organisation and technology: real-time pathway tracking, digital communication with patients and caregivers, and management tools based on Big Data.
One of its most innovative elements is digital follow-up for discharged patients, developed with Medical Cloud's contribution. The AI assistant Sofia accompanies patients after their emergency department visit, facilitating access to video consultations and supporting the collection of clinical information useful to the doctor.
Video consultations thus become a natural extension of the care pathway, enabling remote clinical assessment, report preparation and, where applicable, submission to the Electronic Health Record.
The results are significant, with more than 130,000 visits managed annually and over 1,500 patients receiving remote assistance each month. The organisational impact is also clear in the 44% reduction in the average duration of emergency department episodes, alongside high satisfaction levels, with 85% positive user feedback.
This recognition confirms the value of a model that integrates technology and organisation, where collaboration between the public sector and digital innovators such as Medical Cloud makes a tangible contribution to improving the quality, accessibility and efficiency of healthcare services.
